What is influencer gifting, and how does it differ from product seeding?

Influencer gifting means giving a creator a product instead of cash, in exchange for attention. The industry uses gifting and product seeding largely interchangeably; the distinction that does matter sits between two forms. Blind gifting: you send a parcel to someone who didn't ask for it and hope for a post. Gifted collaboration: the creator says yes up front, knows what is expected and receives the product as the fee for agreed content. Same box, different outcome.

The difference is in what comes back. Blind gifting sometimes yields a Story and usually nothing, because nothing was agreed. Without an agreement, gifting is mostly a shipping cost with an optimistic streak. A gifted collaboration delivers because three things are fixed: what the creator gets, what they make about it and when, and who follows up if it doesn't appear. What the numbers say about gifted versus paid posts is at does product seeding outperform a paid post.

Product as payment also only works if the creator wants the product. Send an athlete something they already use and you don't have to convince them.

Sunday Squad does gifting in that second form, with a squad. By default 25 sportfluencers (fewer by agreement) apply to your briefing, we select, you approve the line-up. Every athlete receives your product, with a value that fits the content requested, and delivers agreed content in return, usually a Story on unboxing and a Reel in which the product is actually used. We track who delivers and report per athlete. You pay no fee per post, but a price per guaranteed content package per creator, at most €100 excl. VAT, plus the product itself. That covers selection, follow-up, reporting and organic usage rights to the content, 12 months per item from first publication. If a creator doesn't deliver and you use nothing from that creator, you don't pay for that package, see what if a creator doesn't deliver the package.
