Can we ask for exclusivity within our category?
Yes, provided it's in the briefing up front and fairly bounded.
Exclusivity means a sportfluencer doesn't promote a competing brand in the same category during the collab. That's a reasonable ask — but it does limit the athlete's freedom, so it has to be proportionate. Three dials set that proportion: the category (how narrowly you draw it), the region and the period. The more sharply those three are bounded, the more easily athletes go along with it.
What doesn't work: an open-ended exclusivity with no end date, or a category so broad that an athlete can't go anywhere else. That scares off exactly the profiles you want. A fair, bounded exclusivity is open for discussion; a block on someone's entire sporting life isn't.
